The National Park of Dilek Peninsula :
It is 1 km distance to the town of Guzelcamli.
The penninsula is between the deltas of Small Menderes and Big
Menderes, 20 km in length and 6 km wide. It is covered
with forests of both Torch Pine and Red Pine. There are deep canyons
and large rivers inside the peninsula where you can find a wide
variety of animal and plant wildlife.
The National Park became Samson Mount Natural Park in May of
1966 after including Akdere and Karine forest areas. It’s total
area is 11,012 square hectares and has an average height of 650
metres. Dilek Hill is the highest point at 1237 metres.
It is the richest National Park in Turkey for flora and fauna.
Theses are related to the geological form of the peninsula. It
also includes the floras of the Aegean, Mediterranean, Marmara
and Black Sea regions and often resembles a botanic garden. There
are several varieties of tree such as Torch Pine, Red Pine, Chestnut,
Lime, Cypress, Plane, Oleander, Daphne, Juniper, Fig, Oak, Olive,
Poplar, Blackberry, Carob, ash…and many more
The wild animals you can find include; Anatolia Parsi, Wolf and
Crafty Jackal, Lynx and other wildcats, Wrinkled Marten, Hedgehog,
Arrow, Wild Boar, Lizard, Turtle, Rock Eagle and Sea Eagle, Hawk
and Falcon, Gull and blackbird, Partridge, Rock Pigeon, Wood Pigeon,
Grind, Wild Rabbit, Throws Sable, Woodcock Kestrel Mallard , Wild
Horse.
The rich sea-life includes; Dolphin, Sea Turtle, Seal, Coral,
Gilt Head Bream, Horse Mackerel, Anchovy, Sea Bass, Grey Mullet,
Dentex Vulgaris, Grouper, grida …and others.
The tourist season of the National Park is between April and
October.
It is possible to swim between May and October.
There are lot of wonderful bays and beaches with public showers,
wc, cabins and cafe’s. You can enjoy many activities such as swimming,
walking in the forest or making a picnic.
